Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle: ER, FALLING SKIES) may appear to be an ordinary librarian working at the world-famous Metropolitan Library, but beneath the public library lies the centuries-old headquarters of scholars and adventurers who investigate the bizarre, collect dangerous artifacts and save the world from supernatural threats. This is THE LIBRARY, and Flynn is THE LIBRARIAN. When an ancient evil organization called The Serpent Brotherhood threatens to destroy technology and bring back the age of magic, Flynn and his new Guardian, Colonel Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn: KING AND MAXWELL, X-MEN), must recruit three extraordinary people who were once Librarian candidates themselves in order to aid in their quest. These ex-candidates are – Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth) – a hospital attendant whose life-threatening brain tumor has given her the gift of synesthesia – the ability to link all five senses to her memory. She is particularly skilled in math and science. Jacob Stone (Christian Kane) – a cowboy from Oklahoma who works on oil pipeline and is secretly a published scholar in the fields of art and history. And Ezekiel Jones (John Kim) – a world-class thief with an alarming lack of conscience – and a knack for getting in and out of tight spots. Together, this motley crew of Librarians must race against the Serpent Brotherhood in an attempt to acquire the mythical Crown of King Arthur – along-lost artifact that will grant its possessor control over any other magical object. In the wrong hands, the Crown could unleash devastating power upon the world. The Librarians’ search for the Crown takes them across the Atlantic to Munich, and then the Black Forests of Bavaria, where they find what they’re looking for at the base of a henge. Their victory is short lived however, when a Brotherhood assassin named Lamia (Leslie Ann-Brandt) follows them back to the Library, steals the Crown out from under them, and stabs Flynn with his own sword – the legendary Excalibur. As Judson (Bob Newhart) and Charlene (Jane Curtain) – the Library’s caretakers – sacrifice the Library in order the expel the Serpent Brotherhood, Flynn and his team escape through a portal door and find themselves in the middle of the woods in Portland, Oregon. There they are met by Jenkins (John Larroquette), the reclusive custodian of the Library’s Annex, who takes them in and helps tend to a wounded Flynn. Things go from bad to worse, however, when the Librarians figure out the Brotherhood’s ominous endgame – to introduce magic back into the world byre-inserting Excalibur into its Stone sheath, which is hidden in a secret chamber underneath the heavily guarded Buckingham Palace… If they fail, the world will be plunged into a new Dark Age. But if they succeed (and survive), they will become the new LIBRARIANS.

  • Captivating

Keeps you entertained and wanting more. I watched the first couple movies prior to season 1. It's like reading a fairy tale before bed.
  • So much for reviews…..

On the strength of the glowing reviews, I bought the first four episodes of this stupid series. 15 minutes into the first episode, I bailed. I kept hoping it would get better, but alas, it only got worse. It looks like the showing going going for a cross between Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, and wound up with high school dialogue, forced and over the top actors chewing up the scenes, and instead of delightful and whimsical, forced and implausible. Wish I could get a refund for the rest of the episodes that are going in the trash.

I love this show. I’m a little freaked out that I can’t buy the season 2 pass ahead of time. Don’t let me down iTunes! I need to see season 2 of The Librarians!
  • New Favorite

After a year of seeing good shows cancelled, we were thrilled to find this series, and happy to see it returning for a second season. It’s entertaining, well-written, well-cast, very well acted, and everyone (teens, college students, and parents) like it.
  • What a great show

Normally I like the fantasy and sic-fi shows and my husband ….um…. doesn’t. He’s more of the action hero fan. Amazingly we both adore this show with a very good ensemble cast*, and its wicked dead pan humor. Its intelligently written, well acted, funny and has plenty of action. What’s not to like? * Of course the fact that Christian Kane was in one of our favorite TV series (Leverage) didn’t hurt either.
  • Love this Series

Great chemistry between the cast, wonderful goofy storylines just like the movies and Christian Kane. Do I need to say more ?!?

  • Loving the Series

I had great expectations of this show since I loved the trilogy of The Librarian movies. In fact, I was concerned that my expectations were TOO high. Especially when I discovered that Noah Wyle wasn't going to be on it 100% of the time because of conflicts in schedules. Well, I shouldn't have worried - Dean Devlin and crew delivered on this one. It has a different tone than the movies. Flynn Carsen never had to exist in a real world before he became The Librarian, so his head was always in the clouds and he was brilliant and quirky and silly as he learned how to hold his own in a fight. Oh, he experienced pain and loss, but for the most part, he spent his life until his 30s surrounded by love and acceptance. Not so for the new Librarians and that adds a certain depth to the series. Honestly, I wouldn't have expected to like that. I loved the movies for the fun and the adventure. I must say I like the series even more. It is still fun - a pleasant change from the darker dramas I spend my time on. To be honest, the only thing I haven't liked is the character of Eve Baird. Eve is advertised as the guardian but is much more of a task master and I'm not liking that particular role. Jacob Stone, Cassie and Ezekiel - I like their different characters and the growth they had in season 1. I can't wait to see what adventures await them in season 2. And I realize this is heresy coming from someone who loved the movies so much, but I'm hoping Flynn Carsen doesn't take over in season 2. I have come to look forward to finding out more about the other and of course, about Jenkins! Bring on season 2!
