  • A Jesus show that doesn’t make me cringe!

    By Torahscope
Finally, a Jesus show that I love recommending. The Chosen does a great job of humanizing Jesus and the disciples. A lot of what happens is not mentioned in the Bible so we don’t know if it’s true, but it’s all plausible. They also do a great job of accurately representing Jewish people in Israel in the first century. Spending my whole life in the Messianic Jewish movement, this is crucial to my enjoyment and engagement in the show. Love it, love it.
  • Absolutely incredible

I’ve never seen a depiction of Jesus that I truly cared for…until this. This show is a breath of fresh air and worth every episode.
  • Shockingly Good

Desperate people trying to make their messed up lives work meet someone whose words and ways don’t make sense; but His heart, His disposition, and His ability to do the impossible in their lives turns desperation to peace, joy, and hope. In a way that no one else does, He loves them. While it is all about Him, in an odd way, it really isn’t all about Him at all. Somehow, it is about the distant God coming close and being real. I can’t not watch it.

I love this show so much! There is nothing quite like it and I cannot reccomend it enough to others. It allows me to picture the stories written in the Bible easier as well as sit and imagine each verse not overlooking things.
  • Greatest

This show is great. It shows Jesus and his Disciples as three demential people. And honestly shows what it means to fallow Christ.
  • Great Depiction of Jesus Christ

While it’s no substitute for the Bible, this is one of the best presentations of the life of Jesus that I have ever seen. With a planned seven seasons, I can see how the writers will be able to plumb the depth of scripture and develop plausible “white spaces” backstories where the Bible doesn’t provide them. But the thing I love the most is how the words of scripture come alive and resonate so deeply. Another thing that this TV show does exceptionally well is balancing the deity and the humanity of Christ. Jonathan Roumie’s portrayal of Jesus will be the gold standard for decades as he is able to equally demonstrate Christ’s deep love for The Father as well as the humanity He created. I look forward to upcoming seasons and give this series my heartiest recommendation.

  • Phenomenal

The show is absolutely Phenomenal. I grew up in the church and worked at a Christian media store back in high school. I almost universally dislike Christian media. That being said, this is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in general.
  • Fresh and Refreshing

Nice to see good acting and production of Biblical characters and their relationship with Jesus.
  • Authentic to ancient Near East, but fresh and compelling

This Catholic can’t watch The Chosen enough. The story plausibly fills in all of the side stories you see intersecting with the Gospels. Lots of food for reflection.
