Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape from New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing. In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Once unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

This film stands alone. The acting is spot on and extremely believable. The Thing will take you on a ride like no other film can. It’s mysterious and mind bending storyline is genius. John Carpenter is one of the most unique and crafted directors of all time. As you become intertwined within the plot your mind will take you places you haven’t gone before. You will remember the movie score forever. The Thing is brilliant. It stays with you long after the final credits are finished.
  • Carpenter back to form

The Thing might not be liked by critcis, people say that John Carpenter's the Thing is one of the worst movies ever made i mean are you kidding me? The Thing is entertaining, well-written horror-creature feature that has loads of good acting, good character development and makes sense most of the time. John Carpenter may hit Halloween down the rail but The Thing is so scary, horrific, goretesque and gross, the Thing is nothing to hate about it's a innocent classic.
  • Carpenter’s best film in my opinion

The Thing is one of the few movies I can watch repeatedly without ever getting bored. The claustrophobic atmosphere combined with the superb special effects which were way ahead of its time makes this one of the most unique sci-fi/horror experiences ever. Easily one of my 10 favorite films
  • My favorite horror movie!!!!!!

This movie is so very close to perfection that it amazes me people who love sci-fi and horror haven’t watched it yet. The cast is fantastic, the set and lighting is amazing. And don’t get me started on the soundtrack of this film. All I have to say is that it is Fantastic, absolutely Fantastic and anyone who hasn’t seen it yet need to now. And I do mean right now!
  • Great classic!

I had seen the remake years ago, but I like the original best. It’s very entertaining from opening credits right straight until the end! Awesome watch.
  • A Masterpiece!

From the creative designs,Antarctica setting, and great actors what’s not to love about this movie! I have to say I enjoy this a lot better than Alien and Halloween! Seriously it’s up there with “The Shining”! People get confused about horror a lot and the concept of it. Horror can have multiple genres mixed in,whether it’s adventure, science fiction, mystery, suspense, fantasy, and comedy. So what genre is “The Thing”? It’s a science fiction monster movie that has horror elements in it! In the 3rd act it becomes a man vs monster movie that is thrilling to the end and even then we’re left in suspense! To sum it up it is a great movie better than Alien and ET which caused The Thing to flop! I guess darker movies were ahead of their time then.

This movie will always be one of my favorites, if not my favorite! It has everything you could want in a horror/sci-fi movie. It’s 2019 and I still feel the same.

1982 come on, HD my big butt. The movie looks bad. If you are money hungry, make them better and maybe we won’t feel like we’re being raped. The 5 stars is for the movie. No stars for iTunes.

WOWie Vincent Canby of NY Times via Rotten Tomatoes review. It starts out with a laughable "Mr. Carpenter has demonstrated that he can make good, comparatively plain, old-fashioned scare movies .... blah, blah, blah ... " WELL NO FLIPPING KIDDING! ... Do your homework dude! The movie is dated 1982. Vincent, babe, that's 36 YEARS AGO! This is a Classic, The Thing has spawned a variety of merchandise including a 1982 novelization, haunted houses, board games, and sequels in comic books, a video game of the same name, and a 2011 prequel film also of the same name. Are ya scratching yer noggin yet? YOU ARE FIRED! I WANT YOUR JOB.... Peace!
