The Many Saints of Newark Movie Streaming Description

“The Many Saints of Newark” is the much‐anticipated feature film prequel to the groundbreaking, award‐winning HBO drama series The Sopranos. Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in the explosive era of the Newark’s riots, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities—and whose influence over his nephew will help make the impressionable teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano.

  • Huge let down

I’m a huge fan of the sopranos series by David Chase. Unfortunately the movie was extremely slow, and overly political. The acting was great overall tho.
  • Enjoyable

We really liked this movie. Just a little prequel to the Sopranos. Nothing ever happens like you’d think with the Sopranos.
  • Not The Sopranos, not even a good movie

If you are were looking for a good prequel for the Sopranos, this movie falls far short. Horribly short. In addition the movie seems to try to be relevant in a culturally political sense by portraying many of the white Italian characters as disgusting racist. As an ethnic minority that is nearly fifty years old, I know racism exist but I go to the cinema to be entertained not preached too about the evils of white people. Especially when you take an amazing tv series that anyone from any political perspective can enjoy and “Woke” it up in order to appeal to a subsegment of your original audience. I was so disappointed. I hoped for a Soprano movie for years. But if you like Woke politics in your movies you’d probably still hate this movie if you loved the Sopranos because the great writing that made the Sopranos is the one thing that never woke up when this movie was being made.

Just wasted a few bucks on this. Not worth it. Just re-watch the Sopranos!

Didn’t have much of Tony’s character. The while story didn't make much sense. Nit a film you’d expect, waste of time.

I am not sure why we got this. What makes the series stand out so well is because you had plenty of time to get acclimated to the characters and overall story arch. You had a full hour to let characters and scenes breathe. A two hour movie prequel for a show that ran for 6 seasons and in total is like 3 days worth of runtime just wasn’t a great idea. I mean let’s be real, the very first episode of the sopranos didn’t get most people hooked so trying to develop a handful of new characters with just two hours was an impossible idea from the jump. The perfect way to describe this film is that it feels like Sopranos Fan Fiction. It’s got all of these little Easter eggs from the show but it has no style, heart, or ambition. Just your average cookie cutter gangster movie. I would have much rather let this be it’s own thing than having the sopranos name attached to it. David Chase should be ashamed of himself. I think the only real reason he did this project was to make the sopranos divisive like every other Franchise or Intellectual Property while also getting back into the spotlight because let’s face it, none of his other projects hold a candle to the Sopranos Series.

What the heck was that? Junk movie and the plot is a disjointed mess. Skip and save yourself. Then again this is probably as good as the weird ending to Sopranos.
