When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.

  • Disturbing, great cast but...

Love Toni Collette, but... No. Let me say the cast was amazing. Everything was great till midway. But I was eye rolling by the end. Too much hype. This was no Jaws or Exorcist!
  • Disturbing

The movie itself is a bit of a slow boil, but once the pace picks up, it doesn’t stop. The ending was so freaky, and disturbing.
  • The scariest movie I’ve ever seen

Tragedy in the family, death- that what’s make bad things step into live, house, family, into someone’s head. Provocative in the ways of unexpected shock, that makes picture disturbing to your bones. Amazing actor’s play makes you believe in the other side, that is hidden from us by our protective psychology mechanisms. But what if protection has been broken? You need to watch the movie to figuer it out. Scary. Scary. Scary

  • So good but the ending is really....well...horrifying

I love this movie but I didn’t like the end. I still rate it 5 starts because never reaver I seen a movie this great. I’m not watching midsommar the kinda sequel to this.... Watch this movie. You won’t regret it unless you get very scared easily. It’s sad, creepy, and horrifying because of the slow tension building up throughout the movie. I’m surprised it didn’t receive a EMMY because it’s that good. Hope this helps debating whether to watch or not
  • Garbage

I wish I could get my money back!

Everything comes together and just blew me away. absolute masterpiece of a horror
  • Scary as hell!

    By GlennBond
To me this is the second most scariest film of all time right behind The Exorcist! It really gets into your mind.the subtle hidden images is what is truly terrifying. It’s not necessarily what you see but what you think you see that is the most frightening!
  • Horrible. Just Horrible.

Don’t waste the precious moments of your life watching this garbage. The actors are great, the dialogue is great, but it’s a bad case of the sums not equaling it’s parts. Don’t rent. Don’t buy. Don’t even glance in its direction. Unlike other horror movies, nuclear war, gym teachers, or a potato, this is not scary. You’ll find more worth in Trump’s presidency than this movie.
